The Finance Department is responsible for a significant variety of central administrative support services and related direct customer service functions:
- Daily accounting and financial reporting
- Maintaining the integrity of all cash receipting and processing
- Tax collection and related administration for the City, School District, County, DDA and LDFA
- Water and sewer utility billing and related collection services
- Delinquent tax collection services/oversight
- Investment of City funds
- Payroll
- Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Budget preparation/analysis
- Annual external audit of the City's financial records and accounting systems
- Property Assessments
The Finance Department also provides significant customer service support at the front counter of City Hall.
City of Brighton receives Standard & Poor's Bond Rating Increase
On 12/19/13 the City of Brighton received notice from Standard & Poor's ( S&P ) that S&P has increased its Bond Rating for the City's general obligation debt from A+ to AA+. This new rating is the second highest possible bond rating in the S&P rating system with AAA being the highest possible rating.
