Millpond Lane Bypass Sewer Project Update

The last piece of sewer pipe is in the ground and connected to the system!

The contractor is now backfilling the hole on Hyne Street and will be preparing it for asphalt paving to occur tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd.

Once the paving is finished, the project will be substantially complete.  All roads will be open and there will be no more significant construction activity involving the Millpond Lane Bypass Sewer Project.

The City is pleased to report that this project has come in on schedule and as always, thanks all businesses, residents, and visitors in the City of Brighton for their patience and input during this much-needed infrastructure improvement.

Thanks for your help in Building a Better Brighton!

Millpond Lane Bypass Sewer Project Update

As of noon today, Tuesday, June 30, 2009, the installation of the sewer has progressed to north of the most southerly Hyne Street parking lot driveway.  In an effort to reduce confusion to drivers utilizing the Hyne Street parking lot and to allow the contractor space to safely install the last manhole and sewer line, access to and from the Hyne Street parking lot will now be from North Street, which is a change from the original detour plan.  The City has placed additional signage directing traffic to access the parking lot via North Street.   Also, access to Hyne Street from Main Street will be closed.

The project has remained on schedule and the contractor will be paving Hyne Street no later than Friday, July 3rd.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact The City of Brighton Department of Public Services at thomasp@brightoncity.org or 810.225.8001

The project is on schedule and will be completed by July 3rd.

They will begin digging the bore pit at the corner of Hyne and Main tomorrow morning, Thursday, June 4th.  Vehicular traffic from Main Street onto Hyne will not be available during this time.  The westbound Main and eastbound Main traffic detours are still in effect and First Street will remain open throughout the weekend.

Millpond Bypass Sewer Project

On May 26, 2009, Fonson Construction, Inc. will begin the City of Brighton’s Millpond Lane Bypass Sewer Project. The first step is to lower the groundwater on Main Street by drilling several small holes in the pavement along the new pipe line and installing small well points. The system will begin pumping and will be operating at full strength by May 27th.

It is anticipated that two-way traffic will be maintained on Main Street during this time; however, the parking spaces along the north side of Main Street from Hyne to First Streets will be closed.

Beginning May 28th, Main Street traffic will become one way (east bound traffic will be detoured) and the contractor will begin excavating the hole for the boring equipment, which will be located on the north side of Main Street, at Hyne Street. If the water table is drawn down to an acceptable level, boring equipment will be lowered into the hole and the bore operations will begin. First Street and Hyne Street will remain open at this time. This Phase is scheduled to take from 7 - 10 days.

While the boring operation is occurring on Main Street, the contractor will begin excavating the hole for boring equipment at the southwest corner of Hyne and Main Streets.

The City of Brighton will continue to provide the public with updates.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact The City of Brighton Department of Public Services at thomasp@brightoncity.org or 810.225.8001.
