Important Public Information Notice

Contrary to recent Published News Media Reports & Headlines; the City of Brighton City Council did Not adopt an  “annoyance”  ordinance. Instead, the City of Brighton City Council on 12/18/08 adopted a Series of City Ordinance Amendments for Prevention of Harassment of Citizens and new related protections for citizens from harassment ; and for the prevention/discouragement of harassing type of activity which interferes with the conduct of public meetings and or interferes with the ability of public officials to carry out public/taxpayer-funded public services .    More specifically the series of Ordinance amendments which the Brighton City Council adopted are titled as follows  ( and a full copy of the subject amendments is in the attached pdf file which the City would encourage all visitors to this City of Brighton website page to click open & read in full ) :

AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR A PROHIBITION ON INTERFERENCE WITH A PEACE OFFICER, PUBLIC HARRASSMENT, OBSTRUCTING OF GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS, AND DISTURBANCE OF LAWFUL MEETINGS BY AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF BRIGHTON, MICHIGAN, CHAPTER 54, ARTICLES II, IV AND V BY AMENDING SECTIONS 54-26; 54-98; 54-100 AND ADDING NEW SECTION 54-108.
