Charter & Ordinance Information

The first City Charter was adopted February 12, 1928 known as the Village of Brighton and corporate under the name City of Brighton where it established a City Government to provide for and maintain the essential interest and welfare of all the people. The new proposed City Charter was drafted by the Charter Commission elected on November 2, 1955. The proposed City Charter was approved by voters during a special election on December 5, 1955.
